Identities-

Identities
J'onn, to better learn from humans and explore his own personality, has hundreds of secret identities. Here are a few-

○ John Jones- His most commonly used identity, that by astonishing coincidence, has the same name as him. A detective (sometimes private investigator) based in Denver, Colorado. Occasionally based in New York. A straight-laced, no-nonsense sort who rarely speaks without reason and doesn't have fun. In some continuities, John Jones was a real man, who J’onn invisibly shadowed and admired greatly. When John was murdered by those he was investigating before he could destroy their criminal organisation, J’onn took John’s place to complete the case but decided to keep living as John. In other versions, John Jones is a fabrication. A tall and muscular man who usually dresses like a private eye clipart. Unless there's a dramatic reason to include John being a stolen identity, I default to John being a creation of J'onn.

An alternative version of John presented from the New 52 and onwards has a different take on John's personality. Depending on the writer, he may still be a copy of a deceased human, but he's used in the exact opposite fashion of classic John Jones- he's emotional, friendly and human, J'onn uses the John persona to revel in being a part of things.

○ The Bronze Wraith- His first superhero identity, before he was comfortable with revealing his alien origins. He fought as part of the Justice Experience during the late 60s, but the identity was retired when the rest of the team were killed by Doctor Trap. Rarely used, but was relatively well known at the time and historians of superheroes recognise the Bronze Wraith. Batman is apparently a fan. Sometimes depicted as a visibly inhuman, ghostly bronze being and sometimes as a human in a green suit with a big red W on the chest.

○ Yuchiro Takata- A retired Japanese business owner and founder of New Concept Industries, which analyses alien technology found on Earth. Incidentally, he is very popular in Japan where he is the subject of a fictionalised anime and manga.

○ Big Doof- A stupid super villain who somehow always ruins the crime but gets away. Fun to be.

○ Jim Tully- Like some versions of John Jones, Jim Tully was once a real agent of the D.E.O, but died due to an allergy to wasp stings. J'onn took over his life. A long-suffering man lacking in confidence, he just puts up with everything.

○ Isobel de la Rosa- A renowned subversive author from Montevideo. Never seen, only mentioned, but one of J'onn's favourites.

○ Marco Xavier- An international man of mystery, and once again a real person J'onn replaced. Marco made his millions as a spy for hire, and whilst J'onn was investigating him to get a lead on the crime syndicate VULTURE, Marco died in a car accident. J'onn took his place until he took down VULTURE from the inside. His country of origin is unclear, his home only being described as on the Mediterranean, and he uses phrases from various European languages. Otherwise, he seems to be based on Clark Gable and frequently inserts the 'err' that Gable was known for into sentences.

○ William Dyer- A different D.E.O agent. Very direct, tough and foul mouthed. Tall, brown-haired with greying temples.

○ Hino Rei- A Japanese journalist with a cheerful and polite outlook. She's a Sailor Moon reference.

○ Charley Dimes- A homeless man in Denver, who refuses to live in a shelter.

○ Josh Johnstone- A migrant worker in Kansas. When a baby Superman crashed on Earth, J'onn decided to keep an eye on his development for his own good and the fate of the world, as the Kryptonian was sure to change things. A gentle man, but always willing to fight for justice as an example for young Clark. Clark is aware of this.

○ Mrs Klingman- A high school civics teacher also made to keep an eye on Clark Kent.

○ Goldie Johnston- The star reporter for disreputable tabloid The World Register. A scrappy, aggressive woman from Chicago.

○ Tomasso- An Italian cat. Likes a cuddle.

○ Paolo- A Brazilian orphan, based in Rio de Janeiro. There he uses his powers to protect and provide for other homeless children.

○ A Gorilla- A gorilla. Used early in his time on Earth, he enjoyed his time as a gorilla but stopped taking this form long term after the heartbreak of his troop being slaughtered by poachers. Still sometimes enjoys vacations as a great ape.

○ A Journalist Gorilla- A different gorilla. A suit-wearing, bespectacled book writing gorilla.

○ Johann Johnson- An immigrant cabbie who lives in Metropolis. Sometimes drives around Clark Kent.

○ Paris Jackson- A detective in the Central City PD and co-worker with Barry Allen, aka The Flash. The identity was created initially to spy on Barry in the first year of the Justice League. Paris is endlessly talkative and inquisitive and should not be spoken to if you don't have an hour to waste.

○ Mike Sherman- A beat cop in Seattle. A good listener who is often easily trusted. His warm and open personality often comes with a side of dad jokes. Like Paris Jackson, he was created to spy on a Justice Leaguer, in this case Dinah Lance, Black Canary.

○ Perez- A member of the coast guard with a rough attitude but a kind heart, he was created to spy on Aquaman and proved to be useful in helping him adjust to life on the surface. Has a weird sense of humour.

○ Lora Denton- A FAA investigator that makes frequent trips to Ferris Aircraft, and is based in Coast City. A somewhat coy woman, who nevertheless appreciates openness in others. Very good at penetrating questions when least expected. She too was created to spy on a member of the League, in this case Hal Jordan.

○ Space Ranger- In most continuities, the Space Ranger is a completely separate entity from J'onn, if he exists at all. A pulp space hero sort, J'onn pretends his powers are advanced technology. It's a useful shape to take in settings where being a big green alien would cause worry. A straight-laced pulp hero with a cunning plan for every occasion. The original Space Ranger had a shapeshifting sidekick, Cryll.

○ Ben Johnson- A middle-aged man who likes to help others work through things as 'strangers in a bar.' He's a direct, helpful and kind man whose frank discussions can be a boon to those in difficult spots.

○ Amrit Jessawalla- An older Indian woman living in New Delhi. A gentle and compassionate woman, she spends her days talking to people about their lives. It's considered odd when she doesn't run off to help a friend in need at the drop of a hat.

○ Unnamed mentions- A Taiwanese cab driver. A Siberian fur trapper. A Sri Lankan bartender. Someone who works at the UN. An old lady. A young man. A young woman. An old man.

Aspects

○ The Pearl- J'onn's 'heart.' A Robin Hood-style steal from the rich thief. She's sarcastic and cheeky. She thinks Aquaman is hot and has her own Martian form. She is emotional, open, and believes in justice above law.

○ Daryl Wessel- An FBI agent, based in Washington. A man with a strong will and a down-to-Earth attitude. He is the 'hunter' in J'onn, and pursues answers relentlessly, even in the face of intense hardship. While he has a tendency to freak out in the face of danger, it doesn't stop him from flying into it if that's necessary.

○ The Mould- J'onn's 'head', his intellect given form. He takes the form of a wrinkled old man in a makeshift superhero outfit. As you may expect, Mould is extremely intelligent and has plans within plans. However, as an aspect, he possesses no powers of his own- he can only encourage other aspects to follow his plans.

○ Mister Biscuits- What precisely this mishapen creature is remains unclear. But he is as compassionate as he is bizarre, impulsive and poetic. Mister Biscuits really, really loves biscuits. Despite his frail appearance and tendency to have limbs fall off, he's one of the most fierce fighters of J'onn's aspects.
